Most utilities will apply default values to estimate the losses between the meter and the utility point of interconnection. However, if you are a large load customer or a generation facility, you can substantially save (or increase your generation revenues) by calculating Site Specific Loss Adjustment (SSLA) for your facility. Using true values can increase revenue since default values tend to be conservative from the utility’s point of view. As an independent MSP, we can perform transformer and line loss calculations to ensure that you are being compensated correctly.
